As tuition goes up, there are also more avenues for college students to help pay for the enormous expense. There are a number of new grants and scholarships available. This can be seen as the silver lining to a problem with tuition that doesnt seem to be going away--actually tuition is going up yearly. However, student loans are not a free ride. While there are a number of scholarships that dont need to be paid back, the majority of student loans need to be paid back, either through a work-study program or paying it off like a traditional loan after graduation. A law education has the highest cost for textbooks of all educational disciplines. A medical education is right up there, but much of a medical education consists of lab work, whereas a legal education is done primarily in text. On the whole, law books tend to be more specialized and more expensive than books for the humanities. In a pre-law setting, you may need to buy even more books than if you are studying for the bar. The reason is because you will be getting a broad-based education about the law before you begin to specialize in different types of law--criminal law, malpractice law, entertainment law, whatever it may be. If you are a textbook sales affiliate, you need to set up a good shipping routine. Books need to end up in the same condition in which they were sent. This way you will be guaranteed to get a good seller rating, which will lead to more sales. If you work in a business inside your home, it is tempting to not be as professional as if you were in an office--try to think of the job as if you were working in an actual bookstore. What this means is that you should have a routine for when you get a book sale. The earth sciences cover a lot of different disciplines: meteorology, geology, geography, and oceanography to name a few. Many earth science texts are staples which have new editions every year, such as the book Environment Geology, which is in its seventh printing. Also, earth science textbooks can be quite expensive, as much as 90 dollars a book, or even more. The more expensive earth science textbooks include CD-ROMs. Unlike other subjects, earth science CD-ROMs are used in the classroom more often. Discount Books: Rare Textbooks

Rare textbooks can be prohibitively expensive. These books are out of print and there are only a select few available. The fewer there are of a book, the higher the price is going to shoot up. It is a good idea to shop around and not take the first price you see.However, rare textbooks arent only out of print. Some books are published by a small press and have a limited run. This will also shoot up the price. This limited run has no bearing on the quality of writing--but if it is an obscure subject, such as 18th century geological theories, there is no need to make a major pressing.
